Budzinski’s gas price increasing policies

October 18, 2022 Decatur, IL –  Nikki Budzinski has made a career out of increasing the price of gas for people in Illinois’ 13th Congressional District where she recently moved to run for Congress.

“Nikki Budzinski’s shortsighted policies have directly led to the increased taxes, inflation, and high gas prices that families and businesses are feeling today,” said 13th Congressional District Regan Deering. “Instead of shutting down our own resources and begging foreign dictators for oil their workforces develop, we should be unleashing the power of the American energy producers to lower prices and bring jobs back home.”

In 2019, while NIkki Budzinski was serving as his Senior Advisor, Gov. JB Pritzker signed legislation to double the Illinois gas tax from 19 cents to 38 cents a gallon, to be adjusted for inflation. As a result, in 2022 Illinois had the second highest tax in the country behind only California.

Budzinski also played a direct role in increasing the price of gasoline and inflation throughout the country while working as President Joe Biden’s Chief of Staff for the Office of Budget and Management responsible for approving Executive Orders. On their first day in office, the Biden Budzinski team issued an Executive Order halting the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, killing thousands of jobs.

Budzinski has long supported extreme and expensive environmental policies working for groups such as the Sixteen Thirty Fund, a dark money group that, in the same year, spent millions of dollars backing organizations to support the Green New Deal (GND) and is endorsed by the GND’s strong supporters the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund.
